Kale Nero
Lacinato / Tuscan kale (Brassica oleracea (Acephala group)). One of the four greens on the original akar.farm homepage, grown 100% pesticide-free.
About the plant
Kale nero, also called cavolo nero, lacinato or Tuscan kale, has long, narrow, blue-green leaves with a dimpled surface. It is sweeter and more tender than curly kale and is used raw in salads, in soups and sautéed.
Growing it indoors
Kale can be harvested leaf by leaf, so one plant keeps producing over several weeks. Indoors, steady light and nutrients give consistent, tender leaves without insect damage.
