Nanobubbles: 1.5× the oxygen

“We also use self-made nanobubble to inject 1.5x oxygen into the water that circulates inside our unit.” Akar, 2023.

Why roots need oxygen

In hydroponics, roots sit in or near water rather than soil. They still need oxygen to respire, and warm tropical water holds less dissolved oxygen. Low oxygen weakens roots and opens the door to root rot.

Nanobubbles are gas bubbles far smaller than a micrometre. Because they are so small they rise very slowly and stay suspended much longer than ordinary bubbles, so they can raise dissolved oxygen in a reservoir more steadily.

What Akar reported

A self-made nanobubble system that injects 1.5× oxygen into circulating water (MIT Solve, 2023).

What it is for

Healthier roots in warm climates, the foundation of consistent harvests.
